Melissa McHenry, MA, MS, LCPC


Melissa McHenryI completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. I then transferred to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and earned a MA in Adult Psychology and MS in Child Psychology. I worked as a therapist at Alternatives Counseling after graduation where I specialized in child sexual abuse, self-injurious behavior and domestic violence. I then opened a private practice in 2006 and practiced as a mental health therapist, counseling adults, children and families until 2017. Prior to McKendree I worked at Scott Air Force Base as the Psychological Director for the Air National Guard where I gained experience working with military servicemen and their families. I started at McKendree University as a part-time counselor in 2015 and became full-time in 2017 and was promoted to Assistant Director of Health & Counseling Services. I thoroughly enjoy working with college students in enhancing their personal growth and self-discovery.


Charles Gregory, MA, LCPC, LPC


Charles GregoryI graduated from Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville with a Masters of Arts in Clinical-Adult Psychology. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including the current employment at McKendree Counseling Services (2017- present). Currently, I run McKendree’s Alcohol and Other Drug Program and Safe Harbor programs, which provides treatment to students who are need of substance abuse counseling and education, in addition to providing general mental health treatment. I have also provided therapy to patients in acute crisis in an inpatient psychiatric treatment facility, Gateway Regional Medical Center (2015-2017). I worked in Aetna’s Behavioral Health Department as a Clinical Care Manager (2013-2015); there, I provided case management, crisis support, psychoeducation, and linked members to available resources. Similarly, I worked at Gateway Foundation (2006-2013) where I oversaw the Mental Ill Substance Abuse Program (MISA), providing therapy to clients who suffer from both a severe mental illness and co-occurring substance abuse diagnosis. I was also employed as a PRN therapist at Alternatives Counseling a private practice specializing in the treatment of Sex Offenders and Domestic Batterers (2006-2013). Lastly, I have published an article in the Journal of Mental Health, Religion, and Culture, 11, 369-373, entitled The Effect of Pyschologists’ Disclosure of Personal Religious Background on Prospective Clients (Gregory II, C., Pomerantz, A. M., Pettibone, J.C., & Segrist, D. J. (2008)
