McKendree Homecoming Weekend Slated for Oct. 22-24
(LEBANON, Ill., October 5, 2021) – McKendree University invites its alumni to come
back to campus for their traditional Homecoming Weekend, which will take place from
Friday, Oct. 22 through Sunday, Oct. 24.
“We’re so thrilled to invite alumni, friends and family to come back home and participate
in person in McKendree’s legendary tailgate party, have a blast watching the parade
and support the Bearcats at this year’s homecoming football game,” said Brandi Brown-Harris,
director of alumni and parent relations. “There are so many exciting events happening
on campus this year that no one will want to miss. We hope that our alumni, students,
family and friends will come join us for the 2021 McKendree University Homecoming
and Reunion Weekend!”

Friday, Oct. 22
Class of 1971 Golden Anniversary Reunion, 4 p.m. Members of the Class of 1971 and the Golden Anniversary Club, which includes all classes prior to 1971, are invited to attend the golden anniversary reunion at Stevenson House.
All Alumni Reunion, 6 p.m. McKendree invites all alumni, parents and friends to the Hett Lobby for a special reception and to reconnect with fellow alumni while enjoying hors d’oeuvres. This event is free of charge and a cash bar will be available. Business attire is requested.
REZA, 7:30 p.m. REZA takes the art of illusion to the next level with a blend of hilarious audience interaction and mind-blowing illusion for the homecoming show this year. To purchase tickets, contact the Hett Box office at (618) 537-6863.
Saturday, Oct. 23
Sunrise Yoga, 7:30 a.m. Alumni, students, parents and friends are invited to Leemon Field for an energizing Sunrise Yoga session as a McKendree family. Participants should bring a yoga mat to the event.
Bearcat Tailgate and BBQ Party, 10 a.m. Alumni are invited to celebrate together at the homecoming tailgate party, hosted by the McKendree University Alumni Association. Join the fun by enjoying beer, bags, games and more while reliving your wonderful memories by reconnecting with the alumni members of your student organizations. Various food trucks will be available, including Truckeria Del Valle, The Sweet Side, Clara B’s Kitchen Table and more. Prices vary for lunch at the food trucks. Lunch is also available in Ames Dining Hall for $9.25 per person. Children five years old and younger can eat for free. Space is limited and will fill up quickly.
Homecoming Parade, 11 a.m. Alumni, students, family, parents, friends and the community at large are all invited to line the streets along the McKendree University campus to watch the annual homecoming parade. The homecoming court, student organizations, alumni awardees, and local groups and businesses will take part and show their spirit on floats, cars, trucks and golf carts.
Homecoming football game, 1 p.m. Cheer on the Bearcats as they take on the Missouri S&T Miners at the homecoming football game at Leemon Field. Tickets are $8 per person and can be purchased at the gate of Leemon Field.
Alumni Awards Dinner, 6 p.m. All alumni, parents and friends are invited to the Annual Alumni Awards Dinner at the Hett to celebrate the accomplishments of this year’s alumni awardees. A welcome reception begins at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person and are required in advance.
Sunday, Oct. 24
Choir Alumni Gathering, 8:30 a.m. Choir alumni are invited to participate in the annual homecoming chapel service at Bothwell Chapel. Join fellow vocalists for a rehearsal at 9 a.m. and chapel service at 10 a.m.
Chapel service, 10 a.m. McKendree Chaplain Rev. Dr. Beverly Wilkes-Null will lead alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends in worship. Deceased alumni of the past year will be honored during the service.
Bearcat Brunch, 11 a.m. Finish homecoming weekend with a flourish by enjoying a delicious Bearcat brunch at Ames Dining Hall, courtesy of the McKendree University Alumni Association. Brunch is $9.25 per person. Children five years old and younger can eat for free.
