Brian Fix promotion(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 1, 2024) – Brian Fix was promoted from corporal to sergeant during a ceremony in the Hett lobby on Friday, Nov. 1.

Fix has been with McKendree University’s Public Safety since September 2006. A 1997 graduate of O’Fallon Township High School, Fix attended and graduated from Southwestern Illinois College’s Police Academy in 2008. During his time at McKendree, he has proven himself to be a reliable member of Public Safety.

“This promotion has nothing to do with what Brian accomplished in the past. This promotion is about his potential,” said Tony Tomlinson, director of Public Safety at McKendree. “We expect big things out of Brian in the future.”

Daryl Hancock, vice president of operations at McKendree, called the Attention to Orders and dispensed the honor on Fix. In attendance were several members of the McKendree community, along with Fix’s wife, Ashley ‘11; their two sons, Axton and Colton; and Fix’s mother, Marcia. Fix’s wife and his mother pinned his new pins to his uniform.

“This is a long way from where I thought I would be. I never considered a job in law enforcement until Dan Sewell, operations manager, told me about this job at McKendree. I’m glad that I’m here and to be doing what I’m doing. Thank you to everyone for believing in me,” Fix said.

After the ceremony, members of the campus community and guests were treated to donuts and other refreshments.
